hi,has anyone else been forced to have skype instead of hotmail and is it free, i am so confused now,put on comp and was hit with a load of stuff and no idea what to do hit a button and all went nuts,now cant find how to get e-mails so waiting for son or daughter to show me how,why cant i work this new techno,why do these companies have to change things that work fine or is it just me, ah well back to the old way,talking on the phone or going visiting,dorothy

I have done a little more digging. Hotmail isn't going, it's Windows Live Messenger.

So, I am guessing (pls correct me if I am wrong) that you used messenger to notify you when an eMail arrived in your hotmail account?

If that's the case, the same should be be possible using Skype, the replacement service for messenger.
