forced to skype Options

hi,has anyone else been forced to have skype instead of hotmail and is it free, i am so confused now,put on comp and was hit with a load of stuff and no idea what to do hit a button and all went nuts,now cant find how to get e-mails so waiting for son or daughter to show me how,why cant i work this new techno,why do these companies have to change things that work fine or is it just me,Confused ah well back to the old way,talking on the phone or going visiting,dorothy

Skype were purchased by Microsoft (Hotmail's owner) so some consolidation of product lines was inevitable, but it sounds like you have had a bit of a nightmare. What happened exactly? Can you remember? What type of PC are you using, what operating system, has anything changed lately (new hardware etc)?

I have done a little more digging. Hotmail isn't going, it's Windows Live Messenger.

So, I am guessing (pls correct me if I am wrong) that you used messenger to notify you when an eMail arrived in your hotmail account?

If that's the case, the same should be be possible using Skype, the replacement service for messenger.

cheers paul, my son and his girlfriend came in and have sorted me out "ish" i will have to read up on all this but at present have been shown how to get what and where i want be it a long way round but i can understand it for now, i am not the best with this so it might take me a bit longer than most,thanks for help line,on a good note i now have skype on my old laptop and main comp,dorothy
